A lone figure trod softly toward the distant light. Walking unheard, her footsteps were sucked into the vast darkness all around her.
Dalla indulged in a rare flight of fancy and sadness as she glanced at the seemingly endless row of books that made the Chicago Library.
Dalla watched and looked at the titles of the books that told the history of the world within its pages.
Dalla thought to her self, as her steps made no sound on the marble floor. Her thoughts carried her mind she knew more about the last 1,100 years better than any book on this corridor.
Dalla crossed from the history to cooking section looking and thinking, pondering as each step was swallowed by Darkness.
Each step she took was one step closer to the light she craved.
Earlier this day she had met with Kayle Chambers and had a fine lunch with him, after that she had asked him to kill her. But he refused and backed away she then attacked him in a fit of fury and caught him across the left side wounding him and causing him to flee to this library.
His chance to escape landed him here of all places she followed down the corridor and she heard faint breathing sounds as she walked.
Her pace was slow but with perceptive eyes she watched all around her as she walked the corridor.
Walking a short ways down the hallway she peered down one of the stacks and noticed a figure hide behind the corner into the darkness of the night.
Dalla walked down the corridor down the side of the stack of books her sword letting off a glimpse of a shine as she passed the dull lighting.
Dalla stopped a moment later to hear the distant sound of shuffling behind her, the scrape of small stones on marble.
Turning around she noticed a small puddle of blood on the floor knowing that Kayle now had not yet fully recovered.
Bending down over the puddle of blood she placed her finger into the now drying blood puddle.
Standing up she walked to the front desk spinning around looking down the corridor she sat on the desk.
“Kayle we cannot play this never ending game forever.” Her voice was the only sound pressing into the murky air of the library.
Stepping from where she sat, she began to search again, she began to look around her self-noticing a doorway.
Walking past and into the doorway she gaze upon the figure that sat within the large room.
This room located in the western wing of the library, the residence of this rooms all but one. The rooms were large like all other rooms in the library, the room was filled with all types of books of every type and binding and lining. The shelves on the walls lined perfectly giving the central living area a faint musty odor like a mausoleum that had been sealed for centuries.
A low table standing by a window was absolutely free of and ornament or object. Dalla looked out the window as she passed noticing the dark clouded sky briefly as a crackle of thunder and lighting light it up.
Dalla turned away from the window looking at the now standing figure. He stood several paces from the dim lighting hidden in the cloak of shadows.
Dalla watched as he stepped forwards revealing him self in the small amount of light his sword that shined brightly.
His black jeans were loose against his skin as he moved his black T-shirt had a cut across the left side.
His face was red with tears, his bleached blonde hair stayed over his face just enough too barely see his eyes.
“Finally” Dalla said in a cold bitter voice as her broad sword came up in front of her face.
The sword covered her eyes until she twisted the handle in her hands and the blade of the sword pressed against her nose. Her eyes burned with tears as she tried to burn wholes through Kayle’s eyes.
She followed his movements as he brought his blade up blocking her attack, his sword made no sound as it came towards her, and she gracefully blocked the attack then blocking Kayle’s foot.
Dalla backed up raising her heavy sword into the air bringing it down towards Kayle’s shoulder. Blocking the attack again this time Kayle pushed her back further away from him, attacking just as she gained her balance, Kayle’s attack caught her off guard.
Kayle’s lethal attacks forced her to the ground, Waiting until she got up, Dalla stood and attack again full force this time her blade swinging wildly.
Kayle ducked under her attack slicing her across the stomach then across the knee’s forcing her to the ground.
Dalla looked up as Kayle raised the blade over his head then stopped with it at that point.
Dalla put her head down “DO IT” she screamed as she closed her eyes. The moment her eyes closed a single tear rolled down her face and hit the ground. Seconds before her head fell from her shoulder with a single strike.
Dalla’s head hit the ground, as it did Kayle’s long sword fell from his fingertips with a loud clank of the marble floor.
He then raised his hands into the air and waited for the warm embrace of the quickening to hit him.
In a moments haste the Quickening engulfed it’s self around Kayle’s body, the blue aura raised up outwards towards Kayle.
The single window in the room exploded outwards into the pouring down rain, the light socket exploded with sparks and a small light works as the entire library went up with a burst of a powerful wind.
Books flew from their spots spraying pages all over the place as the Quickening continued on its path.
After it ended Kayle dropped to his knee’s still not yet recovered from the Quickening he placed his hands to his head and began to sob over Dalla’s body.
