Black Oasis
(A Blue Gender FIC)
Andy woke up from his deep slumber. He had taken it too far in the gym the other day and had put himself into intensive care. He thought to himself- What an idiot....see, training DOES hurt you!. He shook his head and laughed. He was a complete idiot to do something so stressful like that. He slowly got out of bed, and went to the bathroom. He undressed and stepped into the shower. The water turned on, and he stood there in the peacefulness of his mind for a moment. He washed up and got out, and put on some new, fresh clothes. As he stepped outside, he saw several people walking to the Mess Hall, with worried looks on their faces.
"Hey, what's going on?" Andy said to an oncoming couple.
"There is an announcment about the people that went on the mission! We've heard rumors that somebody died!"
At this, Andy's heart sunk. He knew the people that went on the mission very well. He started walking quickly to the Mess Hall, because he had to find out what had happened. When he stepped into the room, everybody turned to look at him. He noticed some of the women were crying, while some of the men were drying their eyes, trying to look strong in front of the others. The grand commander stepped forward to Andy.
"Andy...I'm afraid...something has gone terribly wrong..." He said, his voice breaking.
"What? ...Commander, what happened?.." Andy's heart was beating fast.
"Well...Andy...It's....It's about Akira...She...She was taken to an Insect nest....A Torture Nest..."
Andy took a step back, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "No.." he said in a whisper. "It can't be..." Somebody had put a chair behind him just in time. He fell back, and landed in the chair, a look of shock and sadness on his face. "Why?" He asked hopelessly.
"I'm sorry Andy....We are doing everything we can to get her back, after all, she is our best opperative..." The Commander says slowly.
Andy hopped up from his seat, a determined look on his face. "I'm going to save her."
"ANDY! Are you mad man?! You aren't going anywhere whether you love her or not!!" These last words echoed through the Mess Hall with a disturbing silence that followed. Andy took a step foreward.
"I don't care! I'm going to save her, AND THAT'S FINAL!" One of the men started to clap, then another girl did to. They were moved by what he had said. Eventually the whole crowd grew to a roar to let him go. Random people shouted out 'He is the best mobile suit pilot you've got!' Others yelled 'He has more courage in his little finger than you have in your whole body!" Several other men stepped up to join Andy. They were not going to let one of the greatest people on the station just be tortured by some bloody insects. The Commander looked about with a stunned face.
"You can't all be serious....Andy will get killed!"
"HUSH!" the voice came from the door, as a scientist stepped out. "Andy has more strength, and endurance than 10 of our strongest males and females. Combined. I know, because, I have geneticly enhanced him."
Andy was on him instantly, cursing at him. "Why the bloody hell did you do this to me?! I didn't ask for you to do this! Think you can just burst into my life like this?!" Some of the men have to grab Andy and hold him back so he didn't annihilate the proffeser.
"Andy, I can assure you, you are no different a person you were a month ago than you are now. Now please, go and use this, anger, on those insects, the ones who deserve it, not I."
Andy relaxed a bit. "Alright" He says with a sigh. He nods then turns to the Commander. "When do I leave?"
"First, you will need a partner." The Commander took out a list of people, and found the one he was looking for. "Arial, you will be this mans partner in this journey." A rather tall, and strong looking women stepped out from the crowd.
"Sir, I just got BACK from a mission, I am not going on another one just because this whimp wants to save his girlfriend."
"She is not my girlfriend! She is just an old childhood friend.....But fine, I can go alone! Just watch me!" Andy says the last few words with venom.
"No, Arial, you are going with him. You are our best tactition, and have much experience on Earth."
Arial sighed and stepped up. "Fine. But do not expect me to get along with him." He turns to Andy, giving him a venomous glare, and walked out the door.
Andy left right after her, heading to the weaponry room. He picked up a special pistol that fired lazer beams using special light technology, a long range, and powerful rifle. He gathers the weapons, then goes to his room. He grabs a small pack, and puts in it the rations he had picked up on his way here, then a couple of other useful little gadgets he had picked up in the weaponry room. He slipped out of his old clothes, and into the mission uniform he had been given. The uniform was silver, with a red stripe that ran down the sides of his legs and stomach area, with a white sliver in between the red. The sleeves went down to his wrists, leaving his hands open. His feet were covered in a special set of shoes that wrapped closly to the foot, but gave the support and comfort of tennis shoes.
Him and Arial stepped out of their rooms at the same instant. Arial was just down the hall from him, and he saw her. She gave him another dirty look and walked away. He followed, because that was also the way to the docks. He sighed and wondered how he got stuck with the second best operative...Some people even said she should be the best, but he didn't care. All he wanted to do was kill some insects and save Akira. He reached the docks a few minutes later, stepping right up next to Arial. She didn't see him as she was holding up a mirror and doing her hair. Andy thought her weird to dye her hair pink. She slips the mirror into her pack, tossing her hair as she did. She was almost startled to see Andy standing there.
"Well, you didn't chiken out. At least you are brave enough to do that." She said with a coolness that sent a small chill down Andy's spine. "So, are you going to just stand there gawking or are you going to help me load all this stuff?" She gave her hair a final toss then started lifting items into the spaceship dock.
Andy nodded and set to work. He couldn't help but find himself looking over Arial. There was just something to her long pink, waist-length hair that gave him this crazy feeling. He shrugged it off and went back to work. Andy, being the sturdy and strong guy he was lifted the heavier crates while Arial picked up the greater in number, but lighter, tiny items. They were finished in a few minutes.
He sighed and pressed a few buttons on a small control pad, and a holographic screen came up. He dragged his finger over a few button type things, opened a few files, and downloaded the files they needed into the mainframe of the Ship. He closed down the screen and went over to Arial. "Is everything ready?"
"Yea, now, hop in so we can get this over with." She hopped into the drivers seat. Andy hopped into the back, giving everything a quick check over, then gave her the 'ok' to go. The cargo bay doors closed with a creak and the ship gave a small shudder as it came away from the Station. The ship was fairly big, considering it had to carry 2 fully loaded Mobile Suits with extra ammo and attiliery weaponry. There was a Jeep that was a decent size, good enough to carry their packs and the necessities. Andy took out the watch he had been givin upon his item insertion. It was several different things; A communicator, watch, sattilite, tracking device and even a small computer. He strapped it on his left hand then got a belt out and strapped it on as well. He holstered the lazer pistol and put the rifle across his back. At the base of the platforms of where the Mobile Suits stood ready, was a pedastal with a leather, but metalical looking wrist band with a special kind of technology that reads the user's mind and opens the panel when it needs to.
Andy went up into the thingypit to find Arial charting a course to Earth. "How long will it take to get there?" She jumped because she hadn't known he was there. "Where the heck did you come from!?!...Oh it doesn't matter, we will be there in maybe.....an hour or 2. I don't know for sure." She punched in a few more buttons then sat back. Andy sat in the seat next to her, fiddling with his watch. "Soo...." He said in an awkward voice. "Why did you dye your hair?" She looked up at him, giving him an questioning look. "Now why would a person like you be interested in somebody like me? Expecially my hair?" She gives a small chuckle. Andy stammers a bit. "I er...just....wanted to know, that's all." He started to say something else but looked down.
"Listen buddy, I don't need you hittin on me! It is bad enough that I have to come on this trip on you, but I don't need you hitting on me as well!" Andy had a looked not far from absolute shock on his face."But I wasn't-" She cut him short. "Listen buddy, I know when somebody is hitting on me, ok? So knock it off." He looked like he had been struck dead on the spot. "But I just wanted to know why you dyed your hair, sheesh." She gave him another questioning look, but reluctantly talked. "Fine fine, I dyed it because....My favorite color is pink. Oh, and incase you're wondering, my original hair color is brown." He layed back. "See, that wasn't so hard now was it?" He said with a little bit of laughter in his voice. It instantly stopped when she slapped him. "OW! What teh el was that for?" He rubbed his cheek.
"That was for what you said, and partly because you were hitting on my earlier." She got up and left. Andy layed there, looking out the big, thick glass windows. He tried counting stars for a while but lost count after about 23. He laughed a little and felt a sudden weariness steal over him. Must be the work I've been doing... Well, what ever it was, he fell asleep instantly.
